Hodgson is a graduate of UC Davis and UC Davis School of Law (King Hall) and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the UC Davis Foundation. Melanie Mathews

Melanie Mathews has over 25 years of experience in real estate development. Her success and focus has been in Davis and Woodland, California, on land entitlement and asset management for residential, commercial and mixed-use projects.  Her areas of expertise include the complete life cycle of the entitlement and development process, including due diligence, land acquisition, project management, governmental and community relations, land use planning and entitlements, and market positioning for the ultimate sale to home builders and developers.  Her strong and positive relationships and interactions with the planning department and city council members are an asset in all of her projects. Ms. Mathews excels at finding solutions that integrate the goals of the community, property owners, affordable housing advocates and other key stakeholders.  This process ultimately delivers successful projects that bring long-term value to the community.

Ms. Mathews is also president and managing member of the lead development group for the Woodland Spring Lake Specific Plan. The Plan area is a 1,200-acre residential community immediately adjacent to the proposed Woodland Research and Technology Park.  She was instrumental in creating over a thousand acres of mitigation easements, including a mitigation bank for the Spring Lake development. Ms. Mathews lives in Woodland and recently participated as a Stakeholder for the newly adopted City of Woodland General Plan update.  Melanie graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Managerial Economics.


AECOM successfully integrates architecture, landscape architecture, planning, design, engineering, and environmental compliance into its approach to project development, including “turn-key” construction projects. The AECOM team is led by Jeff Goldman, Planning and Design Principal, who will provide strategic oversight to a team of master planners, architects, landscape architects, workplace strategists, outreach specialists, and environmental planners.

AECOM works closely with clients to identify smart, sustainable decisions that address immediate project needs and provide for the long-term community benefits. AECOM has been involved in many campus planning and Business Park projects, such as Sandia National Laboratories in NM, McClellan Air Force Base Reinvestment Plan in CA, Education City in Doha, and NASA Research Park, Ames Campus that have focused on creating a community asset through implementation of smart and sustainable land planning. AECOM was also the lead architect and planning firm for the Golden 1 Center.

Since 1984, Cunningham Engineering has evolved into a multi-discipline, client-focused firm with civil engineers and landscape architects collaborating to provide exceptional service and efficient designs to our clients. Marika Rose Communications

As a communications consultant and project manager, Ms. Rose provides media relations, community and stakeholder engagement, political outreach, project management, brand development and marketing direction for large civic projects, financial institutions, cultural and arts venues, and healthcare initiatives. Clients include financial institutions, professional and industry associations, school districts, labor unions, real estate developers, entertainment and arts venues, municipalities and business districts, and public affairs firms. She has held high-level public relations positions with U.S. Bancorp/U.S. Bank and Southwest Airlines where she was responsible for brand establishment in new markets, CEO and senior management visibility, media and community relations, and charitable giving.
